27 Years and Counting...

I don't know about you, but some days, I just think to myself that it's time for me to either take an early retirement or find another job. I was lunching with my friend Heather today, had a great lunch by the way, and recalling a story to her about life and times in my building. Needless to say, we have our share of those somewhat colorful folks. Do you think it's time to move on when you share the elevator with an older man, who's tongue is sticking out the entire trip to the 10th Floor? And, he's talking to himself? As I got off, I couldn't help but think to myself that perhaps it's time. I have 27 years, I'll have benefits for life now, I'll collect a small retirement for the rest of my life, and, this is the clincher: I COULD POSSIBLY WORK SOMEPLACE ELSE? Maybe, I don't know, make money off of my passion? Do something I love to do? Ok, now comes the hard part... What exactly is that?

Ok, I love my family, but face it, I'm not making any money off of them. I love my dogs, although the greyhound folks want me to volunteer, I don't think they're actually willing to pay me for my services. I love to take pictures. But, I only have a somewhat mediocre digital camera that's about 5 years old, the lens cap is broken, and sometimes the battery charges, sometimes it doesn't. I don't think anyone's going to pay me to take their picture with my camera.

Oh, I love to watch Sex in the City reruns, and Regis and Kelly. Again, no one's going to pay me for that. I love to go out with my friends; for that, I actually need a lot of money ... I love to travel, I love pinot noirs, I love Coach purses, I love the beach --- don't see me becoming a millionaire with any of that...

I guess I'll ride the elevator with the old man and the tongue tomorrow. Does the fun ever end for me?

Bedroom Makeover, Snow Storms, Ice Storms, Etc....

I wanted to show you all my bedroom, and how it turned out. We were really, really happy with it; I hope you like it too! It finally all came together this weekend, with the window treatments done, the TV mounted, and my accessories all in place. It was a fun project, one that I enjoyed very much. Come and see it for yourself, OK?

I hope everyone survived the snow storm! ... or should I say: Ice Storm! That was horrible! But, it's mid-February, and old man winter has been kind to us so far, so to speak.

My GF's and I planned our first hot tub party of the season, with live karaoke and a fire pit this time! Should be fun... We're surely lookin' forward to it!

I just saw on the TV that Pat has a two-hour delay tomorrow. Can someone pls tell me why? That's ridiculous! The storm was on Wednesday, and it's five days later and the kids have delays? That's insane. I wonder how many snow days the Canadian's get?

All this talk of snow and ice, I think I'll go for a soak now. We made homemade ice cream today, so I hope to enjoy that, while watching Desperate Housewives.

AND, A DAY OFF TOMORROW! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!! HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY TO YOU TOO!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Everytime I see something related to Valentine's Day, I can't help it but go back to the simpler times... You know what I mean? Remember the night before, you'd sit at the table, and pick just the most perfect Valentine for everyone in your class. You know, the boys got all the macho ones; the girls got the pretty ones.... So funny! We would all have to make our little shoe boxes, and decorate them the week before so that we'd be ready for the big day! I can remember keeping mine for years and years, until I could muster up the nerve to throw them out. I still have lots to this day, ones that I'll never get rid of.

Fast forward about 25 years or more since my little decorated shoe box, Pat and I would sit at the table and I'd carefully help him pick out just the right Valentine for each kid in his class. NOTE TO SELF: Boys could care less who gets which Valentine!

I sat here at my computer, last night, paging through cards and cards on my Hallmark software, picking just the right card for my guys. Inside both cards, of course, I had to personalize them with pictures of the puppies, and make little text boxes.... They turned out very cool.

Anyway, I wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day, with visions of your own shoe boxes, filled with all those precious little one-sided wishes for a great day! You remember, the simpler days, when a little one-sided Valentine could make your day! Remember the little boxes of the candy hearts with sayings on them? If you got one of those, you were way cool!
ps. On my iTunes, "Who Knows How Long I Love You" just came on. What an appropriate song for Valentine's Day Eve, huh?
